Growing a strong community together

Like most independent not-for-profit schools, the Nelson Waldorf School relies on the generous support of donors to close the gap between the operational costs of the school and the funding we receive through tuition and the Ministry of Education.

Our NEW Playground Fun-d

Please consider donating to our Playground Fun-d RIGHT NOW so we can make all our playground dreams come true. We’ll be working on it this summer and we can’t wait to get going!

We’ve been hustling behind the scenes and have already raised almost $10,000! Yay for us! But we’re only half way there. With your help we could reach our goal of $15,000 MORE by the end of June. We can do it!

We are a school and community that values or time outside and strongly believe that the more time our students spend in nature the better. The playground we’ve been dreaming up, researching and designing will be constructed primarily of natural materials and will blend seamlessly with the outdoor surroundings. The centrepiece will be an assortment of large hardwood trees that have been harvested locally and delimbed to provide the kids with many different climbing experiences.

There will be at least one circular swing incorporated into the structure and at least one climbing net. The surface of the playground will be wood mulch, and the perimeter will be defined with natural logs and stumps. And one small set of monkey bars and an outdoor play kitchen for younger children would top it all off.

Grocery Cards

The Grocery Card fundraiser is managed by the Parent Council, in partnership with Save On Foods and the Kootenay Co-op. Simply purchase grocery cards through the Parent Council, and the stores will donate 7% of the sales back to the School! This funds specific class activites (like class trips or class play support) and all school support and enhancement, such as building and land maintenance and improvement, teachers professional development and tuition assistance. Your grocery card order helps keep the Nelson Waldorf School vibrant and diverse. Visit the Grocery Cards site for a comprehensive list of Frequently Asked Questions.
